Like our body, car requires routine check up and regular maintenance to stay safe. If you will pay proper attention to your car’s maintenance, you could avoid expensive repairs by saving a lot of time and money.

Oil changes: Change the engine oil of your car regularly. Frequent oil changes flush abrasive dirt and metal particles out of the engine, and prolong its life. Use synthetic oil instead of usual mineral oils. Change the oil filters because the old filters contain build up of oil and dirt particles that could be mixed with new oil. Fluids of brake, power steering, coolant, transmission should also be checked on regular basis.

Tires: Check the pressure of your car tires; be sure to check the tire’s tread as well. Do a visual examination of your tires for wear, snaps, slipped belts, humps monthly. Also have your wheel alignment checked. Improper wheel alignment shortens the life of your tires and causes steering problems.

Battery: Check the condition of your car battery. The battery should be clean, tight and securely mounted. When you see any leaks and cracks, the battery needs to be replaced. Periodically change the cables, fluids, and lights of the battery if required.

Wiper Blades: Clean you wiper with a rag to remove dirt.  If your wiper is still streaking, squeaking or not functioning properly, replace it. Change windshield wipers at least once a year or earlier if they are not cleaning properly.

Headlights and brake lights: Check all exterior and interior lights; these include headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals and fog lights. If any one of the light bulbs is not working, immediately replace it.

Replace the air filter: Check the condition of the air filter. The air filter is on the engine air intake and prevents dust and dirt from entering the engine.

Wash your car: Wash your car regularly to remove dirt particles. Waxing of car is also important to keep it shiny and free from corrosion. Keep both the exterior and the interior of your car clean and tidy. Clean the carpets, mats, hand brakes, pedals, and car seats occasionally.
